Magmortar is a powerful volcanic Pokémon that was introduced in the fourth generation games. It was introduced as the new evolved form of the first generation Pokémon Magmar, which retroactively makes it the third and final form in Magby's evolutionary line.
Information[edit]
Magmortar will evolve from a Magmar that has been traded while holding a Magmarizer. Like their earlier formers, Magmortar usually live in volcanic craters. They can blast fireballs at over 3,600 degrees Fahrenheit from the cannon-like ends of their arms. Magmortar's breath also sears and sizzles, and while it launches fireballs its body takes on a whitish hue due to the intense heat.
Appearances[edit]
Mainstream Games[edit]
Magmortar has not been found in the wild and can only be obtained by evolving a Magmar.

In Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia, Magmortar appeared as a boss used by Lavana and could appear normally at the Volcano Cave. In v Ranger: Guardian Signs, it was found at Sky Fortress, Faldera Volcano and the Fire Temple. In Pokémon Rumble, it was found at the Fiery Furnace. Magmortar also appeared in PokéPark Wii: Pikachu's Adventure at the Lava Zone.
Other Appearances[edit]
In Other Media[edit]
- In the anime, Paul had a Magmar which evolved into a Magmortar late into the Sinnoh series. He was last seen using it during his battle with Barry during the Lily of the Valley Conference. Magmortar have also made other minor appearances.
- In the Pokémon Adventures manga, Magmortar was shown as one of Flint's Pokémon during the Platinum arc.
Trivia[edit]
- Its name is a combination of "magma" (because of its association with lava and Magmar's name) with "mortar" (because of its cannon-like arms).
