Mario Hoops: 3-on-3 is a basketball game featuring characters from the Mario and Final Fantasy series, developed by Square Enix and released for the Nintendo DS.

Gameplay[edit]

The object of the game is the same as it is in real basketball. The player's team must score more points than the other team by making more baskets. All action is controlled with the touch pad.

The game has several modes. Tournament is the main mode, in which the player plays against a variety of teams. Practice teaches the player how to play. In Dribble Race, the player must be the first to gather 100 coins. In Coin Hunters, players must try to take coins from other players.

Playable Characters[edit]

Mario characters[edit]

The following are unlockable characters:

Final Fantasy Characters[edit]

All of the Final Fantasy characters are unlockable characters.

Legacy[edit]

Although a direct sequel was never made, Square-Enix later made a second Mario sports game for the Nintendo Wii called Mario Sports Mix. It acts as a spiritual sequel, as basketball was one of the sports featured, and the game retained the playable Final Fantasy characters.
