Yanmega is a powerful dragonfly-like Pokémon that was introduced in the fourth generation games. It was created as a new evolved form for the second generation Pokémon Yanma, which previously had no evolutionary line.
Information[edit]
A Yanma will evolve into Yanmega after it levels up and learns Ancientpower, which can happen at Level 33. Yanmega is more powerful and can churn its wings to create shock waves that can inflict critical internal injuries on foes. Yanmega is also known for its incredible jaw power, as it can bite foes apart when while flying by at high speed. It has six legs and is powerful enough to carry an adult in flight. Yanmega's wings help it to remain balanced, but its wingbeat is also powerful enough to accidentally dislodge trees while taking off.
Appearances[edit]
Mainstream Games[edit]
Yanmega has not been found in the wild and can only be obtained by evolving a Yanma.

In Other Media[edit]
- In the Pokémon anime, Jessie's Yanma evolved into a Yanmega within the same episode that she caught it, as it turned out that the Yamna already knew Ancientpower. Jessie used it for several contests, and James also borrowed it for a PokéRinger contest. Yanmega along with Seviper were also Jessie's main fighters for the Sinnoh series, but afterwards the Pokémon were all left at Team Rocket headquarters before Jessie and James went to Unova. Yanmega have also made minor appearances.
- In the Pokémon Adventures manga, Mars had a Yanmega that she rode around, and at a late point in the Diamond/Pearl arc she sent a swarm of Yanmega guided by a surveillance probe to attack Professor Rowan's lab, but the attack ended when the probe was destroyed.
Trivia[edit]
- Its name is a combination of "yamna" (which is a Japanese word used to refer to a large dragonfly) with "Meganeura" (which is a type of prehistoric dragonfly).
