Mario Super Sluggers (known in Japan as Super Mario Stadium Family Baseball) is a baseball game featuring various Mario characters and a sequel to the original Mario Superstar Baseball for the Nintendo GameCube. Its European release has notably been canceled.
Story
Princess Peach has brought the gang to the Baseball Kingdom, which was specially built for everyone to play their baseball games. However, Bowser Jr. attacks with his own baseball team to take over the Baseball Kingdom and challenges Mario. Mario must put together a team from the different regions of the Baseball Kingdom to defeat Bowser Jr. and his team, and foil their plans throughout the island.
Gameplay
The main part of the game is playing baseball and not much has changed from the real sport. Players take turns batting and fielding. Three outs and the teams switch positions. The player with the most points at the end of nine innings is the winner.
There are some special features. Sweet spots let characters hit the ball farther than normal, star power lets them use special pitches, and star abilities helps them make spectacular catches. Another interesting aspect is team chemistry. If two players have good chemistry, the ball moves faster when one throws it to another. For example, the ball will move faster if Mario throws to Luigi and slower if he throws to Bowser.
The game remains unchanged for the most part but features new characters and fields to play. New additions include more interactivity with the stadiums, the possibility of using Miis as playable characters and a new interface that that takes advantage of the Wii control.
Teams
The teams consist of 9 members.
