Background
Emmet and Ingo are set of twins who run Unova's Battle Subway. Of the two, Emmet seems to have the more unusual manner of speaking. Most notably, a habit of re-introducing himself, as well as drawing out words for emphasis. Emmet states that he takes battles seriously in order to make them more fun, adding that he enjoys winning battles more than anything else. Ingo is more analytical of trainers' skills in strategy. Both he and Emmit often use train terms as metaphors to describe one's progress. He was also confident in his and Emmet's prowess as a "two-car train". They both generally encouraged others to ride the trains more and to improve themselves.
In Black/White and Black 2/White 2, They could appear for battle after 20 and 48 consecutive victories on one of train's several lines. Ingo and Emmet could be battled individually or as a pair, depending on the line chosen. Ingo was battled individually at the Single and Super Single lines, while Emmett ran the Double and Super Double lines due to his preference for double battles. The pair can only be battled together on the Multi and Super Multi Lines.
In Black 2 and White 2, before taking on the Battle Subway, Nate and Rosa have to take Emmet and Ingo on in a Multi Battle outside the Nimbasa City station.
Pokémon Roster
Emmet and Ingo share the same Pokémon roster, but the ones they use depend upon the battle. Ingo has three Pokémon during normal battles with him, while Emmet has four (due to his being Double Battles), and four Pokémon are also used for the Multi battles. These are the Pokémon that can be used in the first battle (which is the 21st consecutive battle of a particular line):
- Crustle (replaced by Galvantula in Multi battles)
- Klinklang
- Garbodor
- Durant (not used by Ingo)
This is the roster used in rematches (the 49th consecutive battle of a particular line):
- Excadrill
- Haxorus
- Chandelure (replaced by Archeops in Multi battles)
- Eelektross (not used by Ingo)
In Black 2 and White 2, during the initial Multi Battle with them, they respectively use a Gurdurr and a Boldore.
Other Appearances
Other Media
- In the Pokémon anime, the twins first appeared in two episodes during the Unova series where they tried to investigate something that was disturbing the train tracks. It was Team Rocket, but they ultimately evaded Emmet and Ingo. They subsequently were featured in a two-part episode where they teamed up with Ash's group to stop Team Rocket after they had sabotaged the subway and stolen Pokémon from the Pokémon Center. Several episodes later, they helped Ash and Cilan to find a girl's missing Axew and decided to reward their good deed with a double battle. Emmet and Ingo were able to defeat Ash and Cilan.
- In the Pokémon Adventures manga, they appeared during the Black/White arc. They ran the newly-opened Battle Subway and acted as mentors as White when she wanted to start battling. They were shown as having a love of battles but being quite eccentric to the point of occasionally frightening White.
Trivia
- Ingo's name is a play on "ingoing" in reference to an ingoing train. Emmet's name seems to be a pun on "emit", which would refer to an outgoing train. Similarly, their Japanese names (Nobori and Kudari) refer respectively refer to the Japanese words for the same types of trains.
- Ingo wears black, while Emmet wears white, in reference to the yin-yang theme which is present throughout Black/White. Additionally, Ingo seems to be frowning in his official artwork, while Emmet is smiling.
