Glacia is the third member of Hoenn's Elite Four to be faced in Pokémon: Ruby, Sapphire and Pokémon: Emerald Versions. She specializes in Ice-type Pokémon.

Background

Glacia hails from an unspecified faraway land, although it is implied to be a place with a cooler climate. Glacia came to Hoenn in order to hone her ice skills because her Ice Pokémon would become stronger when trained in the hot climate of Hoenn. In battle, her specialty was using items to help and described her Pokémon as flawing passion in the icy cold. As a member of the Elite Four, she seemed unimpressed with all the "challenges from weak trainers and their Pokémon".

When challenged by Brendan/May, she hoped the trainer would be good enough for her to go all-out on, and she wound up being defeated by this young trainer. She then commended the trainer for their fiery spirit, saying that her icy skills were no match, and sent them to the next room where she said the trainer would face "the truly fearsome side of the Pokémon League".

Other Appearances

• Glacia appears in the Pokémon Adventures manga, when Steven Stone summons her with the rest of the Hoenn Elite Four to aid in awakening the legendary Pokémon to battle Groudon and Kyogre. Glacia captures Regice for them and controls it with Phoebe during the battle.

Trivia

• Her name is a simple play on "glacier".
• In an odd coincidence, the Pokémon Glaceon has "Glacia" as its Japanese name.
