Background
Goombario was a young Goomba who lived at the Goomba Village within the Mushroom Kingdom with his family. He heard many tales of Mario's adventurers and became a big fan of him. A studious young Goomba, he extensively studied all of Mario's enemies and was able to quote their strengths and weaknesses at heart. His studied also made him very familiar with different items, locations and various inhabitants of the Mushroom Kingdom. Goombario also learned some fighting techniques from his grandfather, Goompa, who used to be a great adventurer in his early years.
Mario first met Goombario after being thrown from Princess Peach's Castle within the prologue of Paper Mario. Goombario's sister discovered Mario's unconscious body and brought him to safety. Mario went on to rescue Goompa in turn, who rewarded Mario with a badge and suggested that he take Goombario on his adventure. Goombario was excited by the idea and so was the first partner character to join Mario on his journey. He was available to help Mario throughout this quest. Once Bowser was defeated and the adventure came to an end, Gooombario returns to his quiet life at Goomba Village. He and his family still took the time to attend Peach's celebration at the end.
