Saturn is one of the four (three before Charon was introduced in Platinum) Team Galactic commanders featured as recurring enemies in Pokémon: Diamond, Pearl and Platinum Versions.
Background
Saturn was loyally dedicated to accomplishing Cyrus's vision, like most of the Team Galactic commanders. He was fascinated by the irony of how Cyrus dreamed of a world without spirit, which he hated, while using his fiery speeches to rally the speeches of his followers. When Cyrus sen out his commanders to retrieve the three legendary mirage Pokémon of the lakes, Saturn was sent to Lake Valor after it had been hit by a Galactic bomb, where he was able to obtain Azelf. Lucas/Dawn then confronted him in the empty cave there. Saturn felt that Jupiter should have been ashamed of herself for losing to such a child and then battled the player trainer in order to crush all opposition to Team Galactic. He lost and was then disappointed that he was only able to buy his teammates time; however, he was assured that Lucas/Dawn, being a child, could not stop them now.
Afterwards, Saturn remained at Team Galactic's headquarters in Veilstone City, where he watched over the captured Azelf, Mesprit and Uxie with Charon while Cyrus and the others went to the Spear Pillar to perform the ceremony that would create their new universe. Saturn had trouble following Charon's logic and seemed suspicious of him, saying Cyrus did not need his kind of moral support. Lucas/Dawn eventually found Saturn here. Saturn was not too shocked, but he admitted that he did not understand Cyrus and why he let a kid like Lucas/Dawn roam around freely. Saturn then battled them to make up for being insulted back at the lake, but he lost once again, saying that they were tough but he still pitied the likes of them. Saturn then allowed them to free the Pokémon, likely because Team Galactic had no more use for them. He also told them about the Red Chain that Cyrus had created for something at Mt Coronet, while claiming he did not really know anything else about Cyrus's plans.
After Cyrus was defeated at Spear Pillar, Saturn was left in control of Team Galactic. Charon took control of a part of Team Galactic for a mission at Stark Mountain, but Saturn refused to participate and this branch curmbled quickly with Charon's arrest. Saturn had learned that extremism was not the answer and decided to rededicate Team Galactic towards searching for new sources of energy, instead of lying about it in their commercials.

Other Appearances
- Saturn has appeared in various episodes of the Pokémon anime's Diamond & Pearl series involving Team Galactic. In several episodes he was shown stealing a cube and transforming it into the Spear Key, but then failing to steal more meteorites after battling Ash and his friends, with his Toxicroak battling Brock's Croagunk to a draw. In other episodes he was shown working with the other commanders to steal the Lustrous and Adament Orbs, and also excavating the Spear Pillar while being paired with Charon. He finally appeared in the three-part conclusion of the Team Galactic arc, where he fought off Gary Oak while the Galactic Bomb was being dropped, although later on Brock's Croagunk was finally able to defeat his Toxicroak by attacking it immediately after it emerged from its Pokéball. Cyrus later escaped into the unstable new universe (which seemed to collapse after he lost control over Dialga and Palkia) himself, refusing to let anyone else come with him and taint it, at which point Saturn realize how little he cared for them. They were all arrested afterwards, with Saturn realizing that Team Galactic was done for.
- Saturn has appeared in the Diamond/Pearl arc of the Pokémon Adventures manga, where he planned to raise funds for Team Galactic by kidnapping Lady Platina Berlitz. He attempted to attack them at the Lost Tower, but he attracted her bodyguards instead. Later on he routed them into Veilstone City and tried to ambush them there, while bringing out an experimental Team Galactic weapon that wound up imprisoning the bodyguards in some type of alternate dimension. Cyrus was shown to be livid at Saturn for use of this weapon afterwards.
Trivia
- All of Team Galactic's members are named after planets and other celestial bodies, with Saturn of course being named after the sixth planet of the solar system.
