Woobat is a bat-like Pokémon that was introduced in the fifth generation games. Its evolved form is Swoobat.

Information[edit]

Woobat is a Pokémon that is most commonly found within dark forests and caves. They emit ultrasonic waves from their noses in order to detect their surroundings. A Woobat uses suction from its nose to stick to cave walls during sleep, leaving a heart-shaped mark behind.

They evolve into Swoobat when leveling up after reaching their maximum amount of happiness.

Appearances[edit]

=Mainstream Games[edit]

In Pokémon: Black and White Versions, Woobat are commonly found at Wellspring Cave, Mistralton Cave, Twist Mountain, Victory Road and Challenger's Cave.

Other Games[edit]

In Pokémon Rumble Blast, Woobat could be found at the caves of Echo Valley, Misty Edgewater and Shimmering Lake. In PokéPark 2: Wonders Beyond, it appeared at the Verdant Court in the Arbor Area after the cave was opened up with Tepig, and it could be befriended through a tag race.

Other Appearances[edit]

Other Media[edit]

  • In the Pokémon anime, a swarm of Woobat were shown in a cave in an early episode of the Unova series. Jessie of Team Rocket managed to catch one, and it was the first part of her new Unova team. Other Woobat have shown up in minor appearances.
  • In the Pokémon Adventures manga, a wild Woobat was featured in one of the first chapters of the Black/White arc as the first enemy that Black defeated with his Tepig. Another Woobat was later shown as one of the actors working for White in the BW Agency.

Trivia[edit]

  • Its name seems to be a combination of "woo" (as in winning one over or joy and happiness, which could refer to how Woobat evolves through happiness) or "wool" (which could refer to its wool-like fur) with "bat".
