Debut Pokémon X/Y

Trevor is a Pokémon trainer who appeared as a supporting character in Pokémon X and Y. He battles the trainer twice over the course of the game and fills a role similar to that of a friendly rival.

Background

Trevor and his older sister were left behind by their parents when they set off to travel across the world and train their Pokémon. This caused Trevor to develop his own dream of traveling around Kalos and collecting Pokémon. He and Tierno were chosen by Professor Sycamore, who gave each of them a starter Pokémon and a Pokédex for their travels across Kalos. Trevor took this task to heart and became intent on filling the Pokédex. Sometime afterwards, Trevor and Tierno were sent to meet with three more trainers who had been chosen by the professor: Calem/Serena, Serena/Calem and Shauna. While Tierno gave out the starter Pokémon, Trevor gave each of them a Pokédex and explained it to them. Afterwards, Trevor could be encountered at several of the subsequent routes and areas, where he dispensed some advice about Pokémon while searching for more to fill the Pokédex.

The trainers met up at Sycamore's lab, where the professor explained his hopes for them to become the best trainers that they could be and to look for the secrets of Mega Evolution. Trevor still seemed to be set on filling the Pokédex as his top priority. At Route 5, Trevor and Tiero observed Pokémon hordes, and Trevor gave Calem/Serena some honey that they could use to draw in hordes. At Route 7, Trevor checked out the Day Care and explained it to the others. It was also there that Trevor had the first instance of challenging Calem/Serena to see who had registered more species in the region's Pokédex, which he considered to be his own type of battle. He did this at two other points in the game, one for each of Kalos's regions, and in all of those instances, things proceeded from there regardless of who won or lost the competition. Another event that occurred on Route 7 was that Calem and Serena defeated Tierno and Trevor in a Multi Battle. Afterwards, the group went to Shalour City and learned about Mega Evolution from Gurkinn at the Tower of Mastery. Gurkinn had only one Mega Ring to give out, and Trevor excused himself from the potential offer so that he could focus on completing his Pokédex first. The group next met up at Route 14, where they listened to a scary story together.

Trevor then traveled to Laverre City, as he was fascinated by the technology of Poké Balls. By the local Poké Ball Factory, he and Shauna ended up being chased for a while by a Team Flare grunt. It was then that he learned of the threat posed by Team Flare. He was next encountered at Dendemille Town, where he wanted to show his Pokédex to the professor, but he had just missed him. Instead, he traveled to the Frost Cavern in search of more Pokémon. There, he ended up helping Calem/Serena to defeat Team Flare members who were provoking an Abomasnow to cause a blizzard. After the battle, Trevor admitted that he was scared of Team Flare but also saw that he had to be bold in that moment. After Team Flare's downfall, he appeared at Geosenge Town and showed relief that they were done with.

At Route 19, the friendly rivals confronted Calem/Serena for final battles with them. Before Tierno's battle, Trevor made sure to heal both of the trainers' Pokémon. Trevor was then the last of the three to challenge the trainer and decided to let it be a proper Pokémon battle rather than a Pokédex competition. Trevor was defeated and saw that he still had a lot to learn. The three of them then departed, as Trevor said that they had something to attend to. After Calem/Serena had become champion, Trevor could be found at Geosenge Town. Each day, Trevor would ask to see a specific Pokémon capable of Mega Evolution and inform the trainer that the Pokémon's potential for Mega Evolution. Trevor was also available as a Multi Battle partner at the Battle Maison.

Other Appearances

Other Media

  • In the Pokémon anime, Trevor made recurring appearances during the X/Y-based series along with Tierno and Shauna. Instead of being shown as intellectual and focused on the Pokédex, this version of Trevor was an aspiring Pokémon photographer. One episode focused on his efforts to get a picture of Moltres. He was also able to participate in the Lumiose Conference, indicating that he had collected eight gym badges, and he lost in his first battle against Alain. His starter Pokémon was a Charmander, which he evolved into a Charizard which he was also able to Mega Evolve into Mega Charizard Y.
  • In the Pokémon Adventures manga, Trevor was featured as one of the main characters of the X/Y arc and also acted as its narrator. He was shown to be childhood friends with X, Y, Tierno and Shauna, and he brought the three starter Pokémon from Professor Sycamore in hopes of inspiring X to leave his house for a journey. Trevor had chosen Fennekin as his starter, but the Pokémon as well as his Pokédex ended up in Team Flare's hands. His Pokémon was only returned to him at the end of the arc, after it had been evolved into a Delphox by Malva. In the end, Trevor became Professor Sycamore's primary assistant while Sina and Dexio were away at Alola.

Trivia

  • His Japanese name is Trova. Both names could be derived from the French word "trouver" and/or the Italian word "trovare", both of which are words meaning "to find".
  • When deciding on a nickname for Calem/Serena, Trevor's suggestion is "Big" followed by the first letter of the character's name.
  • All of the Pokémon that he uses are either from the Fairy Egg Group or are revived Fossil Pokémon.
