Kirby: Triple Deluxe is a plaforming adventure game for the Nintendo 3DS and is the thirteenth game of the main Kirby series.
Story[edit]
A mysterious beanstalk called the Dreamstalk grows, taking parts of Dream Land to a land called Floralia, including Kirby and King Dedede. Dedede was soon captured by an arachnid being known as Taranza, and Kirby embarked on a quest to rescue him, and adventure that would ultimately bring him to confront Floralia's queen, Sectonia.
Gameplay[edit]
The game follows the traditional gameplay of the Kirby platforming games and also utilizes 2.5-D elements, such as enemies and areas being present in the background of the screen. As usual, Kirby has access to his Copy ability, with over 20 Copy abilities from previous games and several new ones. Kirby can also become Hypernova Kirby by swallowing Miracle Fruits, which renders him capable of swallowing very large objects.
Completing the main story mode unlocks a new mode called Dededetour, in which the player controls King Dedede in a harder version of the game. This game also contains two prominent minigames: one is Kirby Fighters, which is a fighting game where players can customize different Kirbies and have them battle each other, while the other is Dedede's Drum Dash, a rhythm game starring Dedede.
Legacy[edit]
Ports/Remakes[edit]
- Within a year of the release of Triple Deluxe, the game's two minigames were expanded and released as standalone titles that could be purchased through the 3DS's eShop, as Kirby Fighters Deluxe and Dedede's Drum Smash Deluxe.
Sequels[edit]
The next Kirby game to be released would be Kirby and the Rainbow Curse for the Wii U in 2015. In 2016, it would receive a more direct sequel in the form of Kirby: Planet Robobot, which followed most of the gameplay style Triple Deluxe'.
Additonally, Kirby Fighters received a full-fledged sequel for the Nintendo Switch in 2020, called Kirby Fighters 2.
