Kirby Star Allies is a platforming adventure game for the Nintendo Switch. It is the sixteenth game of the Kirby series and the first one to be released on the Switch.
Story[edit]
A dark crystal heart on the planet Jambastion has exploded into multiple smaller Jamba Hearts. As they land on Pop Star, various inhabitants such as King Dedede and Meta Knight end up getting possessed. Kirby is also hit by a heart, but it instead grants him the ability to convert enemies into allies. With this ability, he heads out to contend with the threats from Jambastion.
Gameplay[edit]
This installment follows the standard gameplay of the previous games. In this game, Kirby can be accompanied by up to three companions, and he can throw hearts at enemies to turn them into companions. Companions can be controlled by either the AI or by other players, and through them it is possible to infuse copy abilities with elemental powers. The potential companions can also include Dream Friends, other characters who are unlocked either through the main story or through DLC. Some of the available DLC characters include returning characters from past Kirby games.
