SA-X is a clone (and later series of clones) of Samus Aran created by the X Parasite duplicating her DNA and technology. The SA-X is a recurring antagonist in Metroid Fusion.

Background[edit]

When Samus was infected by the X Parasite, the Power Suit she was wearing was surgically removed and sent to BioLogic Space Labs for research. The X Parasite was able to use Samus's DNA and the Power Suit to turn itself into what was referred to as SA -X (Samus Aran X). It killed the researchers and released the captured X. SA-X retained all of Samus's powers gained from her last mission to Planet Zebes. Over time, the SA-X was able to multiply asexually, creating at least ten copies of Samus Aran.

When Samus Aran boarded BSL spacestation, she lacked the firepower to properly combat the SA-X. While she slowly recovered powers from Core-X creatures and data transmission from the Federation, the SA-X spent its time hunting for her. However, the SA-X soon discovered the presence of Metroids in a secret area on BSL. Given that the Metroids were the X's natural enemy, the SA-X quickly took use of its powers to eradicate all but one of the Metroids. While Samus was targetting the spacestation to hit SR388, she encountered a SA-X. After defeating it in its Samus form, it transformed into a large mutant creature. After transforming into a simple Core X, it quickly escaped before Samus could absorb it. The SA-X Core reappeared while Samus was fighting the Omega Metroid. It was able to return to SA-X form and fire a few shots in before reverting to Core form. Samus Aran was able to absorb the core and regain her old suit as well as her ability to use the Ice Beam. With this power, she was able to defeat the Omega Metroid.

Trivia[edit]

  • Another version of Samus appeared later in the series (earlier chronologically, see the Metroid Timeline). This version, Dark Samus has appeared in three different games.
