Dusclops is a one-eyed ghost Pokémon that was introduced in the third generation games. It is the evolved form of Duskull, and it was later discovered to evolve into Dusknoir in the fourth generation games, which retroactive makes Dusclops the middle form of Duskull's evolutionary line.

Information

Dusclops evolves from Duskull at Level 37. It has a hollow body that is completely empty and is said to be like a black hole. It has also been theorized that there is only a spectral fire burning within Dusclops's body, and that anyone who dares to try to look inside Dusclops would have their soul stolen or be sucked into the void. Dusclops can absorb anything into its body, but nothing will ever come out. They usually seek drifting will-o'-the-wisps to absorb.

It can also hypnotize others using its single eye while moving its hands in a macabre manner. Dusclops can evolve into Dusknoir when one is traded while holding a Reaper Cloth.

In Pokémon: Ruby Version, it was uncommonly found at the Sky Pillar. In Diamond and Pearl, it could appear at Route 224 when using the Pokéradar. In Platinum, it was rarely found in Turnback Cave and Sendoff Spring, being somewhat more common at night, but it would appear in the first area of Turnback Cave only when Emerald was inserted in the GBA slot. In HeartGold and SoulSilver, it could appear at the Safari Zone's Mountain area if enough Forest objects were present.

Other Games

Dusclops could only be obtained through evolution in Pokémon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red and Blue Rescue Teams and Explorers of Time and Darkness. In Pinball, Dusclops was featured in its own minigame where the player could battle one with the Poké Ball after defeating many Duskull. In Pokémon Trozei!, it was found at Endless Level 65, Forever Level 15, Pair Trozei and Mr. Who's Den. In Pokémon Ranger, it appeared at Panula Cave. In Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia, they were found at Oil Field Hideout. Dusclops also appeared in Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs at Noir Forest and the Dark Temple.

• In the Pokémon anime, Dusclops was initially shown in the ninth movie as one of the Pokémon that Butler used in his magic act and also to hypnotize Jirachi into opening its Eye of Truth. In several episodes of the Hoenn series, a Dusclops appeared as the main Pokémon of Tommy Grimm, who also dressed up as his Dusclops and called himself The Phantom. During the Battle Frontier series, Dusclops was one of the Pokémon that Brandon used during his rematch with Ash.
• In the Pokémon Adventures manga, one chapter of the Ruby/Sapphire arc depicted Wally nearly being swallowed by a Dusclops at the Sky Pillar until his Grovyle was able to defeat it. In in the Emerald arc, a Dusclops had been among the Pokémon that had been illegally smuggled into the Battle Frontier's supply of Rental Pokémon. Emerald used it at the Battle Pike and determined that it originated from Mt. Pyre. Dusclops was among the Pokémon that grew attached to Emerald and joined him with Sudowoodo to become part of Emerald's regular team.

Trivia

• Its name is a combination of "dusk" (due to its association with darkness) and "cyclops" (since it is a one-eyed creature similar to the mythical cyclops).
