This is a master list of all Planets as well as other stellar objects in the Metroid series.

- Aether - The homeworld of the Luminoth. A meteor impact split the world into two dimensions - Light Aether and Dark Aether - for nearly fifty years.
- Aliehs III - A Galactic Federation outpost with an extensive shipyard. Samus Aran's Gunship was built here.
- Alinos - Homeworld of the Alimbic race. A massive impact caused by Gorea has scarred the planet.
- Arcterra - Another planet controlled by the Alimbic race. Although uninhabitable, it had some structures built before it was abandoned.

- Bes III - The moon Phrygis orbits the planet.
- Bilum
- Bryyo - Homeworld of the Reptilicus race who engaged in a global conflict that devastated the planet. Only 4% of the planet can sustain life. It has since become a Galactic Federation fuel source.

- Earth - Never seen in the games. The homeworld of humans and possibly the Galactic Federation.
- Elysia - A former Chozo colony, it was left to the Elysians following their departure. It has since become a Galactic Federation territory.

- Jovia XII - A planet inhabited by beings with metamorphic abilities. The bounty hunter Gandrayda may be from this planet.

- K-2L - Galactic Federation outpost. The bounty hunter Samus Aran was born here, but was orphaned by a Space Pirate attack.
- Kriken - The homeworld of the similarly named Kriken empire. The bounty hunter Trace was born here.

- Mondreus - The homeworld of the Diamont race. The bounty hunter Spire is the last member of this race.

- Norion - Originally an unremarkable planet, it was terraformed into a forest planet. It serves as an important Galactic Federation Naval Yard.

- Phaaze - A living planet that was first spotted nearly a thousand years ago by a Chozo satellite. It launches Phazon-filled meteors at other planets to transform them into its likeness.
- Phrygis - A moon in orbit around Bes III. The bounty hunter Rundas was born here.
- Pirate Homeworld - The origin of the Space Pirates species. It was conquered by the Galactic Federation.

- SR388 - Homeworld of the Metroid and X Parasite. It was first purged of Metroids, but when the X Parasite threat became greater than the Metroids, the planet itself was destroyed.

- Tallon IV - A planet that was settled by the Chozo. It was impacted by a Phazon-meteor which spoiled the planet and eliminated the Chozo who did not flee. It has since begun recovering from the impact.
- Tivus - A Galactic Federation planet. A significant number of crewmen on the G.F.S. Valhalla was composed of recruits from this planet.

- Vho - The homeworld of the Vhozon race. The bounty hunter Noxus is from this planet.

- Wotan VII - A planet that recently underwent a bloody war of liberation. The bounty hunter Ghor is a veteran of this war.
