Kirby and the Rainbow Curse (known as Kirby and the Magical Paintbrush in Europe) is a platforming adventure game for the Wii U. It acts as a follow-up to Kirby Canvas Curse, released a decade later.
Story[edit]
Dream Land has suddenly been drained of color and frozen in time. A paintbrush fairy named Elline finds Kirby and Waddle Dee. She restores color them and enlists their help in defeating Claycia, her friend who has turned evil and used the colors drained from Popstar to create seven new worlds. They decide to work together to stop her.
Gameplay[edit]
This game follows the gameplay of Canvas Curse, in which Kirby is trapped in the form of a ball, and the player must guide Kirby by creating rainbow-colored lines. For every hundred stars collected by Kirby, he can perform a Star Dash which makes him larger and capable of clearing more obstacles. Kirby can also transform into a variety of vehicles throughout the game. There are hidden treasure chests in each level, which can also unlock other features of the game.
Rainbow Curse also supports multiplayer gameplay. Up to three other players can assume the roles of Waddle Dees, who are capable of carrying Kirby around and attacking enemies. This game is also compatible with Kirby-related amiibos, which can active the Star Dash early, among other special effects.
Legacy[edit]
Sequels[edit]
Rainbow Curse has not had a direct sequel, but the next Kirby game would be Kirby: Planet Robobot.
