Kirby Squeak Squad is the second Kirby game on the Nintendo DS.

Story

One day Kirby is enjoying a slice of strawberry shortcake. He is suddenly beset by the Squeak Squad, a gang of thieves led by Daroach. At first he thinks it's King Dedede and tracks him down in order to take it back. However the thieves show up again and Kirby continues after them in order to get his cake back, unaware of what is truly inside of the chest - the evil entity, Dark Nebula.

Gameplay

The game returns Kirby to his platforming roots following Kirby Canvas Curse. The game features over 25 new copy abilities. Returning copy abilities include Beam, Bomb, Cupid, Cutter, Fighter, Fire, Hammer, Hi-Jump, Ice, Laser, Magic, Ninja, Parasol, Sleep, Spark, Sword, Throw, Tornado, U.F.O., and Wheel. New abilities are Animal, Bubble, Ghost, Metal, and Triple Star. Each copy ability has a variety of maneuvers and one secret move only accessible by gaining the mastery scroll for it.

Kirby is also capable of keeping an inventory of five items (as well as one in his cheeks). These items are found inside of bubbles and can range from copy abilities, healing items, or collectible parts to form an extra life. This inventory is also used to carry the treasure chests found inside the levels. Items in the inventory can be mixed with like items. Healing items will upgrade to more powerful items, whereas copy abilities can either mix powers or change into a random ability.

The treasure chests contain a large variety of items that make up the game's overall extra content. These range from alternate colors for Kirby, upgraded abilities, music tracks, pieces to puzzles, a map to a bonus stage (with all the abilities in bubbles), extra stages, and a variety of other items. They come in the regular smaller variety as well as the large purple chests. Whenever Kirby encounters the large quests, he has to keep them out of the hands of one of the Squeak Squad goons who will try to beat Kirby to nabbing them.
