Unfezant is a skilled bird-like Pokémon that was introduced in the fifth generation games. It is the third and final form of Pidove's evolutionary line.

Information

Unfezant evolves from Tranquill at Level 32. Although its prior forms had no notable gender differences, Unfezant's male and female forms do. Female Unfezant are known for being better fliers and more skilled than the male variety. The males have red plumage on their heads which they swing around in attempts to threaten opponents. Unfezant never allows themselves to feel close to anyone other than their trainers.

Appearances

Mainstream Games

In Pokémon: Black and White Versions, Unfezant could be rarely found in rustling grass at Routes 6, 7 and 12, Lostlorn Forest and Dragonspiral Tower. They only appear during the autumn, spring and summer seasons except at Lostlorn Forest and Route 12, where they can be found all year.

Other Games

In Pokémon Rumble Blast, Unfezant appeared in the treetops area of World Axle's second basement floor.

Other Appearances

Other Media

  • In the Pokémon anime, Unfezant of both genders were initially shown with a minor appearance in the fourteenth movie. Within the series, Unfezant was eventually shown as part of Skyla's team.
  • In the Pokémon Adventures manga, an Unfezant appeared in a flashback where it was shown as a Pokémon belonging to Bianca's father that Black borrowed for his mock Pokémon battles.

Trivia

  • Its name seemed to be some kind of play on "unfazed" and/or "unpleasant" combined with "pheasant" (which is an actual bird).
  • Unfezant and Frillish/Jellicent are the only fifth generation Pokémon with gender variations. Unfezant's gender variation is influenced by sexual dimorphism in actual birds.
