Ein is one of the four Cipher admins who appears as a boss in Pokémon Colosseum and is the scientific mind behind Shadow Pokémon.
Background
Ein was a scientist operating in the Shadow Pokémon Laboratory and worked into corrupting Pokémon into Shadow Pokémon by cutting them off from their emotions. He documented his work in a series of Ein Files that were found in various areas of Orre. Like the other admins, he was also entrusted with his own legendary Shadow Pokémon, a Raikou. When Wes and his partner Rui, who could sense Shadow Pokémon, began challenging Cipher and purifying Shadow Pokémon, Ein attempted to take steps to stop them with Cipher's other admins.
Eventually Wes and Rui raided the lab and met Ein just as he finished scrubbing a disk of important data. Ein immediately engaged them in a Pokémon battle, intent on not letting them interfere with their Shadow Pokémon plan. He was defeated, but Ein told them that their victory was in vain, because all of the Shadow Pokémon made in the lab had already shipped out. This included the Shadow Tyranitar, the ultimate Shadow Pokémon that he had made for Cipher's boss Evice (although it is unclear where Ein knew Evice was Cipher's true boss or if he, like the public, was lead to think it was Nascour). Ein proceeded to escape the lab.
Ein showed up again at Realgam Tower, where all four of the Cipher admins guarded the path onwards. Wes and Rui once more battled Ein, who criticized their happy attitude, and defeated him. Disappointed that such a powerful fighter was not on their side, Ein reluctantly gave them the Yellow ID Badge and left after taunting them about their upcoming challenges. Afterwards, Ein could still be battled in Deep Colosseum.
