Wolt is a playable unit in Fire Emblem: Fuuin no Tsurugi and the first archer in the game.

Background

Growing up, Wolt was an integral part of the House of Pherae. His mother, Rebecca had a hand in raising Roy, the son of Marquis Eliwood. Due to their closeness in age, Roy and Wolt grew up as practically brothers. As he grew, he inherited his mother's skills with the bow and became an archer in the service of the House of Pherae. He greatly admired the skills of the Cavaliers and especially of the dedication of war veterans like Marcus and Merlinus. However his admiration of them also made him very self-conscious of his own abilities.

Prior to the war, he first joined Roy in lesson by Cecilia in battle tactics back at Ostia during the game's tutorial. After their time in Ostia, he was traveling with Roy, Allen, Bors, and Lilina back to Pherae. After Lilina had continued ahead to the castle, they received a message saying that bandits had attacked the palace. Starting in "Chapter 1: Dawn of Destiny", he helped to retake the castle. From that point he became a permanent member of Roy's army.

Following the war he returned to Pherae with Roy. He lent his hand in helping to rebuild the wartorn land. Despite the hardships and perils that faced them, Wolt did his best to support Roy and played an important role in returning the land to prosperity.

Support Conversation Summaries

Wolt is capable of having support conversations with five other characters.

• Roy- Wolt greets Roy as "Master Roy", but Roy insists he just call him Roy since they grew up like brothers. Wolt insists that he still call him as such since he wishes to be a loyal servant. In the following conversation, Wolt is still addressing him formally and talks about being a loyal servant like Merlinus and Marcus, leaving Roy perturbed by the conversation. In the final conversation, Roy tells Wolt that there is someone in the army he is upset about and asks Wolt's advice about it. After settling the matter, Roy told Wolt it was him before taking off to engage in battle again.
• Allen- In their first conversation, Wolt finds Allen in the middle of practicing his sword thrusts in the middle of battle. In their second conversation, Wolt is shocked to find Allen having just finished 1000 strokes and asks if its really wise to tire himself out in battle, but Allen says they have to get stronger for Roy's sake. In their final conversation, Allen finds Wolt has begun to also train and praises him for his efforts.
• Lance- Wolt interrupts Lance while he is deep in thought and tells him that he wants to learn from him how to fight. In the next conversation Lance tells Wolt how he is keeping a record of the battle and every move of both ally and enemy, which amazes Wolt. In their final conversation, Wolt tells Lance that he has finished reading the book on war tactics that Lance lent him. Lance then offers him another book by the same author, this one in 24 volumes.
• Marcus- Wolt comes to Marcus and asks for training in swordplay. Wolt believed that he was limited in his defense of Roy while using only a bow, and he wanted to use a sword as well to protect him from close-range attackers. However, Marcus tells Wolt that it is too late for him to learn how to wield a sword properly, and he cannot defend Roy with only mediocre fencing skills. Marcus assures Wolt that he is already a great aid to Roy. Wolt comes again to ask Marcus for lessons, but Marcus tells him another way that Wolt can already help Roy: through moral support. Marcus recalls how Eliwood had battled alongside knights who were far older or far younger than him (presumably not referring to Fire Emblem, where most of Eliwood's followers were closer to his age). But Wolt and Roy were like brothers and he tells Wolt that he could succeed him one day. Wolt does not think he is worthy of such a position, but Marcus tells him he has to fix his low self esteem.
• Sue- Sue notes that Wolt uses a bow too, but doesn't ride a horse. Wolt says he thinks it would be harder to ride and shoot, but she simply leaves. Later Sue says she thinks riding a horse is better and more practical. She also said that she tried shooting on the ground, causing Wolt to worry that she had done so during battle, which she hadn't. In the final conversation, Wolt says it's he tried shooting from a horse, but had a hard time riding and shooting. Sue offers to let him ride behind her and try it out, but he concludes that shooting on foot is more stable.
