Cobalt Blue is the son of Sapphire and heir to the throne of Turquoise. Being born after the timeline split, Cobalt's character varies significantly between the three timelines. In addition to having a different father and year of birth in each, the Cobalt of the Bad Timeline has adopted the guise of the Gentleman in Red, while the Cobalt of the Good Timeline has inherited his father's uncanny ability to attract the backhanding of Masamune.
Bad Timeline[edit]
Cobalt originally appeared in The OGers: Third Generation as the son of Sapphire, but later it was revealed his father was Donkeyman. As a child he grew up in relative comfort in Turquoise Palace, surrounded by the Fusion Kids as older (but mischievous) older siblings. Though he was born in the year 2021, he was already 19 by 2030. The Donkeyman loved his son greatly, but with his many duties was unable to spend much time with him. Thus, the six year old Cobalt swore to become a crewman for his father as he escorted the souls of lost sailors to Fiddler's Green. After a decade of service, Cobalt returned to Turquoise ten years older while the world around him had not progressed. Totally not made up on the spot.
When the 3G arrived at Turquoise, he spotted Ashley and instantly became smitten with her. When EVIL Scientist Dude refused to let him in the group, he instead disguised himself under the guise of the Gentleman in Red, hearkening back to his mother's dual identity. It turned out he was supposed to be a part of the Third Generation and became their next member, joining just in time for the final battle against Team Rocket. During the final battle, he also picked up Murasame's sword and has kept it after the old pirate died. He continued working with the Third Generation afterwards, though the others remained distrustful of him because he wouldn't give away his real identity.
Good Timeline[edit]
In the Good Timeline, Cobalt is the son of Golem and Sapphire. Due to his grandfather King Cobalt still being alive, he grew up as a relatively normal kid with little ties to his royal background. In GMOG Holiday Special: Happy Father's Day, Masa!, Cobalt and his father Golem are shown reminiscing about old times, but their good times are interrupted when EVIL Scientist Dude shows up and steals Golem away as part of his plan to erase certain pesky fathers from existence. He teams up with Masamune, Producer, Goy, and Kid Vid in order to rescue their fathers (even though the latter two's fathers weren't even involved) as the League of Extraordinary Descendants. Mostly he ends up the target of Masamune's backhands due to Golem being his father. In the end his dad is saved and he inherits his scarf.
Straw Man's World[edit]
In a timeline created by Straw Man in GMOG Holiday Special: Merry Christmas Straw Man!, Cobalt's parents are Sapphire (a poor baglady) and Mr. Venn (Golem as a plumber). He was a crowman (like everyone else) and had married Princess Ashley, the daughter of Emperor Lugius, who had run away from home to become an air pirate. The two were happy together until Masamune stepped in, who had memories from the real world and began to drive a wedge between the two of them, since Ashley and Masamune had been a couple in the real world. Due to Straw Man's tyranny, he still worked with Masamune to restore the real world, but was killed during the final battle. When Ashley had to choose between the real world or the fictional one married to Cobalt, she return to the real world.
Alternate Good Future[edit]
Once again Cobalt is seen in the alternate future in Gamehiker Member OG X: The Shrack of Neely when Old Golem takes over as a god. Because the Golem from the Good Timeline never returned home, Sapphire ended up marrying Donkeyman, who in turn became Cobalt's father. This version of Cobalt grew up in Guannamannistan, where everyone was a cowyboy (or a knight) and became one of the cowboys under the leadership of Mayor Straw Man and Farmer Jon. He became known as Sheriff Cobalt and became the arch-rival of Dark Knight Kid Vid and didn't get along well with Ashley, who was also one of the knights. Eventually he settled his differences with Ashley and started working for his 'uncle', Big Al in the Resistance. He joined a daring raid led by Kanenobu to save Enthree and met his almost-father Golem (whom he didn't like much). In the end he joined the final battle against Old Golem and helped to banish him forever.
Neutral Timeline[edit]
In the Neutral Timeline, Vorpal and Sapphire presumably had an affair sometime during the Vorpal Administration (despite the fact she was his First Lady, they weren't married). The pregnancy was covered up and Cobalt was hidden and frozen in time (or maybe ice) until the end of Vorpal's administration. After he was unfrozen and grew up in a post-apocalyptic world, he went a little insane after becoming the next owner of the Vorpal sword. He took over Turquoise and turned the floating island into a island of thieves who raid the earth bound settlements for food and supplies, though his aims are ultimately to claim all of America as his 'birthright'.
