The Golden Cheesecake Pirate Armada Movie: Gorilla of Fate

The Golden Cheesecake Pirate Armada Movie: Gorilla of Fate is a 2005 movie developed by Poncho Productions, and is based on the OGs of the Golden Cheesecake Pirate Armada. It is about seven minutes long.

It should be available on Youtube sometime near the end of June.

Production

This film was made as an assignment for Biology class, which required a short education film be made about cell processes like glycolosis. The film was made by several members of the actual crew (including the captain and first mate) along with the aid of three non-members. The concept of the movie's villain, Mr. Fatigue, came from a sheet filled with suggestions on possible film ideas provided by the teacher. One listed someone named "Mr. Fatigue" as the villain, and the creative crew found his name so laughable they decided to include him.

It was filmed in a rush over the course of a week. Tension increased during the crew, and one scene went unfilmed. However, the film was handed in on time and was surprisingly well-reviewed, despite lackluster effects.

Plot Summary

The movie starts as Mini-Myself, the shrinking member of the pirate crew, is checking the ship's storage room and is attacked by the villainous Mr. Fatigue. Mr. Fatigue uses a deadly dance to exhaust Mini-Myself's cells, making him shrink down and stay shrunken. Mr. Fatigue then steals a bag of Doritos and escapes. The crew arrives and discovers the damage. So No Name and Que Pasa invent a shrink ray (composed of a cardboard box with the word "Shrink Ray" written on it) and use it to shrink down the crew members to a size at which they are able to explore Mini-Myself's cells.

The ship is watched over by some sailor guy who was abducted by the pirates. Mr. Fatigue shows up looking for the hat he left behind and quickly challenged the sailor to a fight. The crew members were still absorbed with their educational exploration as they used glycolosis or something to recharge Mini-Myself's cells so that he could grow again. The only problem, the Shrink Ray only shrinks, not vice versa, so the pirates are stuck. However, Mini-Myself is able to remedy the situation by writing "/Grow" on the Shrink Ray, restoring them all to normal. Captain Scruffy then retrieves cereal from the cabinet, only to find Sensei waiting inside. Everyone laughs in a conventional sitcom fashion.

General Cheapness

As said before, this was kinda last minute. Problems arose from the nine students' conflicting schedules. Nearly every scene was filmed in a different room since not all areas were always available for filming. Special effects were nonexistant, and the only way people knew the GCPA were inside a cell rather then in a normal room (which they were) was due to expository dialogue. The movie also suffered a poor editting job by Darren's dad.

Despite all these glawing flaws, the movie still got an A for explaining about glycolosis, and the teacher was quite found of John's narrations as Morgan Freeman. (In case you were wondering, the appearances by Morgan Freeman and Bill Cosby were simply done by placing pictures of them in front of the camera and speaking into the microphone, rather than through lookalikes or, obviously not, the real people themselves). One of the big highlights of the movie was Thomas's hilarious portrayal of Mr. Fatigue.

The Cutting Room Floor

Several scenes and shots from the film had to be removed. First of all, Lupine's fruity owl Aeolus was supposed to make a cameo in one scene in which the sailor guy tried to sic him on Mr. Fatigue, but Aeolus was smacked down. That shot was cut since no owl plushies or real ones could be found in time.

Another scene that had to be cut (coming just before the "/grow" scene) was a scene of Mini-Myself, restored to life, fighting Mr. Fatigue after the sailor guy got beat up. Mini-Myself would throw a paper ball at Mr. Fatigue, which would automatically destroy him. John suggested that the paper ball make him explode instantly, while The Guz thought of him melting after being hit, and Thomas's idea was possibly the best, involving him "slowly boiling into a pot roast". The scene was unable to be filmed before the deadline. John still wanted to shoot the scene anyway for the fun of it, but never got a chance to before Thomas sadly moved from the area.

Other smaller celebrity cameos were cut, including one of Morgan Freeman's narrations. Originally at the end of the film, the screen would turn black for a few seconds, when suddenly a picture of Bob Saget accompanied by a screeching sound would pop up to frighten the viewer.

Significance

This movie introduced the villain Mr. Fatigue, who became a regular villain in the GCPA mythos. This movie also featured Morgan Freeman as a narrator, largely as a spoof of his narrations in other movies like War of the Worlds and March of the Penguins. Morgan Freeman then became the default narrator of the GCPA stories, in the same vein as Robert Stack in Party Goers.

Sequels?

GORE-ILLA has been very anxious to make more GCPA-related movies, without time limits or set deadlines. He has been hoping to make both a feature-length movie and a series of short films sometime before the end of high school, although there are varying problems that have prevented him- such as the fact that pirate members live in different parts of the state making it difficult for the many members to get together out of school, occasional procrastion and the lack of filming locations.

As of January 2007, two teaser trailers have been released for the sequel, The GCPA Movie II: Secret of The Guz. It will feature more characters from the GCPA stories. Filming has already begun.
