Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble is a Kirby game for the Game Boy Color which was made to utilize a tilt sensor, and it was the first Nintendo game with such capabilities.
Story[edit]
Kirby spots King Dedede and a Waddle Dee, and he sees that Dream Land's stars had been stolen again. He sets off to retrieve them from Dedede.
Gameplay[edit]
The game is controlled with the tilt sensor in levels with a top-down perspective. Tilting the Game Boy will cause Kirby to roll around, and Kirby's speed increases by tilting it further. Kirby can also be bounced into the air by thrusting the Game Boy upward. Kirby must navigate stages while defeating enemies and collecting stars, the latter of which are needed to complete stages.
Legacy[edit]
Although Tilt 'n' Tumble did not have an actual follow-up, it was the predecessor for several other games on the Game Boy Advance which used the tilt sensor such as Yoshi Topsy-Turvy and WarioWare: Twisted!. Although Tilt 'n' Tumble was still compatible with the Game Boy Advance, some other platforms caused problems as the Game Boy Advance SP had reversed controls (due to the system's game slot being on the bottom instead of the top), and when using the Game Boy Player on the Gamecube, there was no way to control it beyond the absurd method of actually tiling the Gamecube.
Sequels[edit]
A sequel was planned for the Nintendo Gamecube for its early years and was shown at E3 as Kirby's Tilt 'n' Tumble 2. The game was to be controlled with the Game Boy Advance as a controller. However, the game was changed to Roll-o-Rama (with Kirby eventually being removed) and was ultimately canceled.
