Kirby's Dream Land 2 is a plaforming adventure game that was released for the Game Boy in 1995. A sequel to Kirby's Dream Land, it is actually the third Kirby game overall, following Kirby's Adventure.

Story[edit]

The rainbows that connect the islands of Dream Land have been stolen by King Dedede, who is possessed by Dark Matter. Kirby must defeat him and restore order to the land.

Gameplay[edit]

Kirby's Dream Land followed the established Kirby formula, including the Copy ability that was introduced in Adventure. Kirby runs, jump, flies, and inhales enemies to copy their abilities. This game also featured animal allies who Kirby could ride through levels, each with their own special attributes. Rick the Hamster can move quickly and is capable of walking on ice without sliding. Coo the Owl could fly through strong winds that would normally repel Kirby and Kine the Fish could similarly help swim through harsh currents. Kirby could still inhale while riding the animals, and his animal partners could use altered versions of the Copy abilities while Kirby is riding them.

Legacy[edit]

Sequels[edit]

The next Kirby game was Kirby Super Star, which was released for the Super NES in 1996. Kirby's Dream Land 3 came afterwards in 1997 and was the only other game to feature Kirby's animal friends, while adding several new ones.
