Wario Land: Shake It![edit]
It is unknown where the Shake King originally came from, though he seems to be a native of the Shake Dimension. With an army of Bandinero under his command, the pirate was able to take over the Merfle Kingdom and capture all of its subjects, including Queen Merelda. Despite his interest in the young beauty, whom he found beautiful even in disdain, his main goal was to gain the Bottomless Coin Sack. Once he had achieved his ultimate goal, he imprisoned the various Merfle subjects into cages across the world, ensuring that they would be unable to use their powers to unlock the seals on the various gates guarding the monsters carrying the Boss Emblems and entrance into his own ship, the Shakedown Schooner.
However one Merfle escaped and was able to escape the Shake Dimension via the Ancient Globe. He was able to enlist the help of Captain Syrup and later Wario. While Wario went around freeing the various Merfles, the Shake King actively pursued him by using the alarm systems installed on the Merfle Cages. If Wario wasn't able to escape in time, the Shake King quickly arrived to 'shake him down' to recover whatever goods Wario had collected. Ultimately in the end Wario was able to free all of the Merfles and collect the five Boss Emblems, leading to a confrontation between the two.
Aside from his superior strength and size, the Shake King had many abilities at his disposal. He was able to summon a collection of Bandineros and form them into one giant Bandinero as a weapon. He was also able to summon fireballs, electric attacks, and use his own ground pounding technique to disorient Wario. After Wario was able to beat him in the first round by tricking him into ramming into the wall, the Shake King took the battle into the clouds where he used his incredible potent energy attacks to try and end Wario. In the end though Wario was able to best the Shake King. The resulting energy release removed the dark clouds over his lair, signaling that at last his tyrannical reign had ended.
Battle Phases[edit]
Phase 1
- The first phase begins after the Shake King rises from his throne. While battling on the first floor, he can call down fireballs, create a giant Bandinero to throw (which can be charged into to defeat), and pound the ground to disorient Wario. If he manages to get near Wario, he will shake him down for money. When he charges at Wario, hitting him on the back one time will send him into the wall, where he must be charged into several times to disorient him and allow him to be thrown into the wall.
Phase 2
- After being reduced to 2/3rd of his health, he will fall through the ground to a lower level. He now will form a giant Bumbleprod which can't be charged into, pound the ground with his fist, and jump up and down on the stage to produce shockwaves. This time he will charge three times back and forth and Wario has to jump on his back twice to make him ram into the wall.
Phase 3
- After being reduced to a sliver of health, the Shake King escapes to the lowest floor of the Schooner where Queen Merelda is held. Rather than fight there, he draws Wario into the clouds and recovers all of his health. Here he demonstrates his Zeus-like ability to created bolts of lighting. He also can summon balls of electricity and fire massive energy outbursts from the air. Like before he can still use his ground pound technique and once again summon fireballs. When he uses his charging attack, Wario has to jump on his back three times to make him ram into the wall.
Other Appearances[edit]
Video Games[edit]
- In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, the Shake King was represented as a Novice-rank Primary Spirit that could enhance a player character's throwing ability. When fought against in a Spirit battle, the Shake King's Spirit would possess King K. Rool and focus on grabbing and shaking the opponent. The battle would also see periodic earthquakes.
Trivia[edit]
- His name is a very obvious pun of "Shaking".
- The Shake King shares many of Wario's moves, including his charge attack, ground pound, as well as the ability to shake Wario down for cash. Likewise Wario can grab the Shake King and shake him to cause the Shake King to release a massive amount of cash.
- There are three missions associated with beating the Shake King. Those involve beating him without taking damage, beating him within 3:30 amount of time, and completing the level with at least 60,000 coins.
