Chef Lupine Shadow
Full Name: Marko "El Fool" Lamela Ber... ah forget it.
AKA: Lupina
Birthdate: 1989
Species: Human
Nationality: United States of America
Creator: Lupine
First Appearance: The Adventures of Scruffy and Que Pasa: Rise of Gorenicus
Background[edit]
Originally known as Marko. When Captain Monkeyman Scruffy and Que Pasa founded the Golden Cheesecake Pirate Armada, they wished to recruit Marko as chef despite his horrible cooking. When they came they found Marko being attacked by a wild raccoon, Scruffy burned his face to get it off, giving him "a new face, a better one". So he decided to call himself Lupine Shadow and joined the crew. The other crewmates often tease him for his love of anime and his general emo-ness, although he is ranked second mate. He once dated eLFa until he found out she was his sister (BURNED!).
More of Lupine's past was later revealed along with more of his motivations for becoming a pirate; he once trained at a ninja dojo with his utterly rude friend Lucifer, where the young ninja princess Vagineta had a crush on him for a time. It was also at this point where he first met Scruffy in matches with the dojo where Scruffy was training. However Marko fell in love with a pirate girl named Ren who defied their sensei one day and left the ninjas to find her, thus turning the ninjas against him. Lupine still carries a photo of the mysterious girl and continues to seek her. He's come close to finding her several times, but some convenient plot twist always keeps them apart in the end.
Another version of Lupine's background (made before the whole "ninja girl version" above), that is mostly ignored/forgotten, was told in "Wolf and Dragon", saying that Lupine Shadow used to be married until his wife was murdered in cold blood by Damien Shadow, his brother and former partner. This story, Marko's failed attempt to tell a dramatic story rather than a whacked-out one, said that Lupine's ulterior motive in joining the crew was to find his brother to get revenge, and this story also was the first to show Lupine and eLFa as close friends, just like their real life counterparts used to be. The story was later heavily criticized by the other crew members, one major point of parody being a scene in which Damien has a gun pointed point-blank at Lupine's head, yet somehow misses and shoots his shoulder instead. Marko claims the impossible physics were actually due to some good left in Damien.
One of his more important adventures had him teaming up with The Dreamer to solve The Deniro Code. They succeeded in their venture, although Lupine's attempt at a romantic moment turned platonic after he had a sighting of Ren. Lupine also had a lost adventure with Que Pasa where they worked together to save Scruffy from the combined forces of Pat Sajak and Alex Trebeck. In the GCPA Finale, Lupine continues to fail in his attempts to reach out to the Dreamer and instead decides to search for Ren at the ball to settle his feelings for her, at Siren's urgence, although Siren was too busy to help him directly. He did eventually spot her, but as he made his way to her during the Viking attack, he was suddenly attacked violently by Wally while Ren wound up fleeing. He was reduced to bizarre gibberish after being caught in a pine cone explosion and broke down after finding that Ren had left, lashing out at Jebus, who had enough of Lupine and ascended to a higher plane. But Edwin, with whom Lupine had bonded over about girls, was there to help him back to the ship as he regained coherency, and Lupine was left as one of the last five members of the crew. He was the last one to leave after being separated from That Krazy Dude and Dreamer in a stressful sidequest.
Lupine's new job as a chef fell through, but he made a modest living as a foot fetish model until Saget called him in to be part of his sadistic 1 Vs. 100 against Scruffy. In the end, it came down to Scruffy against Lupine, and Lupine purposely tossed the question so that Scruffy would live. The crew was then reunited for the final battles. Lupine was sidetracked, however, in learning the secret conspiracy against his life: apparently all of his pinecone-summoning had unintentionally destroyed the world of an alternate transexual Lupine known as Lupine Degeneres, who made a pact with demonic entities who would torment Lupine throughout his life. Having him meet Ren and keeping her away from him forever afterwards, as well as altering his perception of the world, were all part of the plan to make Lupine's life pure misery. Wally, Lucifer and Jebus were all part of this conspiracy, but Jebus rebelled against the others. Lupine managed to conquer his insecurities by willingly drenching his legs in acid to kill Wally and save Ren from certain doom. Lupine was then ready to rejoin the crew and alongside Scruffy and Que Pasa, destroyed Shine Saget in the final battle.
Afterwards, Lupine was awarded by being appointed the captain of the second Golden Cheesecake, with various pirates contending for the coveted first and second mate positions. He also began pursuing a relationship with Ren, finally earning his happy ending.
Abilities[edit]
Chef Lupine is a skilled fighter, owing to his ninja roots, and he is particularly skilled when fighting with his feet. Lupine also is skilled in the magic arts (specializing in summoning skills, although he usually winds up summoning pine cones), is in love with pistols, is a master of blades and is often assisted by his pet Aeolus, a fruity owl that Lupine insists is actually a hawk. And in case of emergency, he has a tooth loaded with nitro glycerin. Lupine also has a number of one-shot abilities that have not been used since. He is also a pyromanic due to his elemental magic, which often winds up burning down the ship. To the crew he is a bit everything and absolutely nothing at all.
Other Versions[edit]
- Chef Leos, Que Pasa's Bizarro counterpart who fights with his fists, is a five-star chef and is actually quite cool.
- In 3G2: Green Hair is in Style, Lupine appears as a Failed Lupus clone who came out Cuban instead of Australian, as well as serious, grim and loving samurai poetry. This also references his attempt to change his name to Pyro Lupus.
Trivia[edit]
- Chef Lupine Shadow is a loose homage/parody of the character Sanji from the One Piece manga.
- He hates being called fool and takes being called it worse than any slur word imaginable. Kinda like how BSD responded whenever someone insulted his intelligence.
In Other Media[edit]
Lupine, due to his creator being too stupid to take the same classes as us, was not in the first GCPA movie or the "Mechanical Ape" music video. He appeared in a few scenes of The Golden Cheesecake Pirate Armada Movie II: The Secret of The Guz that were filmed, portrayed by his creator Marko Lamela.
