'Mona is a recurring character within the WarioWare games. A opportunistic young girl that constantly changes her style and outfits, with numerous jobs to match. She is a good friend of Wario and accompanied him on several treasure hunting adventures.

Background

Mona was originally a high school student working at the Geletaria. On the side, she worked as a game designer for WarioWare Inc., with her games usually having a bizarre twist to them. Given her busy schedule she was given to riding her moped at often reckless speeds, many times having to evade the police just to get to work on time. As seen in the original WarioWare, she was aided in these police chases by a trio of animals hidden in her moped- a miniature elephant, a pig and a monkey. In WarioWare Inc: Mega Party Game$!, she worked as a waitress in Sora Sora Restaurant.

This lifestyle didn't last long as she quit her job at the Geletaria and opened up her own restaurant - Mona Pizza in WarioWare: Twisted!. By doing so she gained a enemy in the huge multinational Pizza Dinosaur company whose pizza was not nearly as good. On top of that, she ended up starting a band known as Mona and the Hot Slices, while still maintaining her pizzeria, in WarioWare: Touched!. She quickly became a raging success, much to the annoyance of previous pop sensation Vanessa. After failing to stop Mona, Vanessa attempted to dress up like Mona at one of the concerts but got booed off the stage. However Mona and Vanessa were able to patch things up later, performing together at the Hawt House for the Wario Ware gang.

In WarioWare: Smooth Moves, she was shown as the cheerleading captain for the Diamond City Roughs, with a group of cheerleaders called the Monettes. One of the football players developed a crush on her with her, but was unable to summon the courage to admit his feelings to her until she was already gone (although his desire to impress her did motivate him to lead the football team to victory). Mona was also seen running a dumpling stand that caught Young Cricket's interest in his episode, and she became the editor of the "Weekly Wario" (the game's instruction manual) after Wario got bored of it.

Mona appears in WarioWare: Snapped!, where she helps to run the Wario Park with Wario, Jimmy T., Kat and Ana. In WarioWare: D.I.Y., Mona explores a hidden temple with Joe as her cameraman in Indiana Jonesesque fashion. Within this game, she's also shown to be among the WarioWare employees who defected to Diamond Software, seemingly in order to receive actual pay. She returns to WarioWare by Game & Wario. In this game, she has become a photojournalist for the Diamond City Times, and in the minigame Shutter, she takes pictures of hidden criminals. She also has a Cluck-a-Pop Capsule feature called Mona Superscoop, where she talks about Diamond City and its various residents.

Trivia

• It is implied, at least in the first two games, that Wario and Mona have a thing for each other; Wario is shown to dream about her in the first game, and Mona's instructional manual description says that she is "a little smitten" with Wario. There is likely an age gap between them, however, as Mona is described as a high school student while Wario seems to be in his 20s.
• According to an official Japanese WarioWare site, Mona's father is an artist, and her mother is a busy supermodel whom she rarely sees. She relates to Ashley's feelings of loneliness due to how she ends up missing her mother.
• Two stickers of Mona appear in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, one showing her with her moped from the first game while other shows her in WarioWare: Touched!. She also makes a vocal appearance, as the Mona Pizza song is part of the game's soundtrack. In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS/Wii U/Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, she appears as a trophy based on her Game & Wario appearance.
