Cheryl is a Pokémon trainer who was featured in the fourth generation games as a temporary double battle partner.
Background[edit]
Cheryl was a polite young trainer who Lucas/Dawn met in the Eterna Forest. She accompanied them through the forest out of fear of Team Galactic attacks, and she healed the player's Pokémon after each battle in exchange. When they reached the end of the forest, they parted ways, and in Platinum, she thanked the player trainer for helping her by giving them the Soothe Bell.
She would later appear in the Battle Zone, where Lucas/Dawn could choose her as a partner for Double Battles in the Battle Tower. In Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl, the player could not pick partners for the Battle Tower, and instead Cheryl could appear as an opponent paired with Mira in a double battle. In Platinum, she would also appear at the Battleground cafe on random days following completion of the Stark Mountain sidequest, where she could be challenged to a battle. She was also available as a Battle Tower partner at Johto's Battle Frontier in HeartGold and SoulSilver.
Pokémon Roster[edit]
In Eterna Forest, Cheryl's only Pokémon is Chansey.
In Diamond/Pearl, she can use two of the following Pokémon in Battle Tower competitions: Blissey, Porygon2, Porygon-Z, Espeon, Umbreon, Latias, Latios, Gastrodon, Snorlax, Milotic and Cresselia. In Platinum, her possible Pokémon for the Battle Tower challenge is expanded to include Miltank, Wailord, Hippowdon, Slaking, Venusaur, Meganium, Sceptile, Torterra, Medicham, Breloom, Vespiquen, Victreebel, Ludicolo, Shiftry, Abomasnow, Cradily, Roserade, Exeggutor, Starmie, Dusknoir, Tangrowth, Walrein, Regirock and Regice. When fought at the Battle Tower in Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl, the Pokémon she could use includes Blissey, Umbreon, Porygon-Z and Latios.
She also uses the following roster for the Battleground matches in Platinum:
In Other Pokémon Games[edit]
In Pokémon Masters EX, Cheryl and her Blissey appear as a playable sync pair that could be recruited at random through the Sync Pair Scout feature. In her sync pair story, she talks about how her Chansey's evolution into Blissey inspired her and helped her to be less hesitant as a trainer. She also appeared as an opponent challenged by Barry at random in the sync pair event about his Piplup's evolution into Prinplup. Cheryl was later featured in the "New World Dilemma" Legendary Event, where she recognized Cyrus of Team Galactic and took part in the effort to stop him.
Other Appearances[edit]
